We had made arrangements, against medical advice, to wheel Areli over to the mission compound for the funeral. We gave them some good reasons: it was about 50 yards from the front door to the emergency room, there would be lots of medical people there, and it was just necessary for Areli to be there. Areli's family helped to get her dressed while Sherwood worked some last minute details. We did not want this to be a sad event for a sad tragedy, but more focused on God's goodness at all times. We asked Eman and Jessica to sing one of our favorite songs in English and Spanish: "Blessed Be the Name of the Lord." Also Jeff, back in the U.S., had set up a way for us to do a live broadcast of the event for our family and friends to watch. The cameras and computers were set and the service began.

We felt much love from those present and those watching from afar. Areli was barely strong enough to stand but she could feel the Spirit of God strengthening and consoling her, providing the only thing that can heal all wounds: the Presence of God. And both of us wanted more and more of this healing balm.
